Will Cheshier

Welcome!

My name is Will Cheshier and I am formerly the Sports Director for KJFF Radio in Festus, Missouri (30 miles south of St. Louis) as part of the Alpha Media family. As a former Sports Director at KJFF, I was responsible for leading the sports department and building our fan base using marketing and communication skills. My duties included a little bit of everything including hosting and producing my own on-air sports show weekdays from 4-5 pm, play-by-play broadcasting of area high school teams in football, volleyball, basketball, softball, and baseball. In addition, I served as a reporter and producer for the station anchoring sports and newscasts while contributing both sports and news broadcast stories for the radio, and daily web stories for our website. Also, I worked the marketing and public relations side by handling our social media accounts, utilizing promotions, representing the company at public events, and coordinating interviews with area athletes and coaches.

I am seeking a career change to break into the public relations/marketing field because after two years of working in radio and working with public relations/marketing material, I have found that to be my true passion.

Before being promoted as the Sports Director at KJFF, I was an on-air play-by-play broadcaster, reporter, producer, digital content producer, and hosted a country music on-air shift for KTJJ/KREI Radio in Farmington, MO. My duties here included writing news and sports stories, broadcasting area high school sports in football, basketball, softball, and baseball, while anchoring several newscasts and sportscasts throughout the day at the five, six, and ten pm hour.

Prior to that, I graduated from Washington State University in May of 2015 with a bachelor's degree in Communication and an emphasis in broadcast journalism. Over the course of my studies at WSU, I worked for the student newspaper "The Daily Evergreen" covering the football and men's basketball sports beat. I was a member of the Murrow News 8 news team contributing to nightly weekly newscasts airing on the local Cable 8 news channel for seven and ten pm newscasts anchoring news, sports, and weather. In addition, I worked at the Novelty Hill-Januik Winery in Woodinville, Washington gaining some event management and sales experience selling wine club memberships to individual people, and businesses.
